Antwon

At the height of the Blog Era, Antwon, a rapper from San Jose, grabbed attention with his distinctive blend of punk and hip hop, merging both worlds and cultivating a dedicated fan base. Born Antonio Williams, Antwon began his career in the early 2010s, and his music has continued to resonate with fans throughout his lengthy career. He says he doesn't create music merely for money; if money were his sole purpose, he would have stopped a long time ago.

Antwon is set to release his new project, "Downtown Tony 2," a follow-up to the first part, which he released in June 2019. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to speak with Antwon about his music, early life experiences, making music with the late Lil Peep, and more.

Interview by Logan Jean

I spent the month of November in New York, it's been a little over year since I stepped foot in the city. I went there on a whim, I planned on going to NYC to shoot some content, but this trip was random. I checked my interview charter filled with a batch of artists and I hit up those within the closest vicinity of me.

The last person I spoke to is Veto Corli from Staten Island. Veto is a lyricist that's so cold with the flow, from the first time I heard him in 2011, his semi-raspy voice and strong delivery made him a stand out. I made the trip across the water and I got to speak to Veto about life on Staten Island, the lessons he learned from doing a bid, and his new "Rythm & Bullets" project.
