5 NY Rappers Diddy Needs To look Into

Diddy at Revolt Summit

Diddy was recently on The Breakfast Club for an interview and there's a particular clip floating around with him saying "New York artists, we are in last place". This was Diddy vehemently exclaiming that NY has lost its footing in hip-hop and its luster as a trendsetting city. You've probably heard similar people utter these same sentiments over the years too, but the statement still remains true. An organic sound has not developed out of the streets of New York for some time now. Now, let's not act like New York doesn't have an underground scene that keeps it official, but those artist are not acknowledged by the mainstream media due to their music not being "radio friendly".

In this case I believe Diddy thinks NY needs a "wave" again. We can take a look at some of NY's most recent biggest acts over the years like Pop Smoke, Tekashi 6ix9ine, Desiigner, or even Bobby Shmurda. All of these artist made a big waves but none of them broke with a sound that was homegrown.

I do believe that there are artists in NY that have their own sound that I feel is homegrown. These artist are not really getting the recognition they deserve yet, but they are definitely there. Here's a list of 5 New York artists that I think would be a great look on Bad Boy Records.
